Meeting the famous Mr. Kevin Bacon of " The Grounds"
School drop offs are one the crazy things we do every weekday morning , but thank you it's Friday ! After becoming parents dinner dates have just become a thing of the past . Juggling work , school drop off and pickups , home work, uniform laundry while cooking dinner making lunch boxes thats life for us now. We love our kids to bits but we need that little time out , we think all couples do.
As the kids jump off the car and waved goodbye , Mr Ng asked " Where would you like to go ? " I love these moments when we don't really have a plan . If people have life bucket list I have a stack of cards and now is the time to pick a wild one . So I told him about Kevin a famous pig who lives in "The Grounds of Alexandria ".
We follow the tv series " The Walking Dead " and Alexandria is like a place of hope and challenge .It was past 8 am our bodies are starting to feel like zombified joining the herd of cars on a morning rush traffic , we must find good coffee.....
The Grounds of Alexandria is more like the "Terminus " (refer to the TV series above ), hidden among industrial warehouses is a " secret garden ". A collection of odd yet wonderful things , like a hoarders place but in a nice organised way . Ok I think the correct way to describe it is " Shabby Chic" .
Meeting the famous Mr. Kevin Bacon is the main reason we are here so we first find his house , boy it was like the playboy mansion he's not there but we meet some of his chicks!
Mr Bacon was actually in the " hay spa" and was not impressed by our idea to just rock up without an appointment. Such a diva , Hollywood snob!
As Mr . Bacon was not really in the mood to talk we just decided to get some breakfast . The Grounds has multiple food outlets The Garden , Potting Shed, the Cafe , Bakery and Patisserie . It was a beautiful sunny day and the courtyard was inviting we claimed a table near the vegetable and herb garden. From the Soda Barn we ordered cappuccino ,caramel latte and coconut lychee -served in a coconut made . Lychee, guava nectar, coconut water and basil real refreshing treat . I ordered the Breakfast bowl : Charred kale, quinoa, shredded red cabbage, pomegranate, avocado, 62 degree egg and za’atar 13 ( i added Bacon, grin on!) while Mr Ng had the Lamb sausage Sanga, cheese, friend onion, fried egg and tomato relish.
As we wait for the menu to change from breakfast to lunch, Yes this day was to meet a pig ! we have the right to pig out what a good excuse . We explored the rest of the complex we learned that there are weekend markets ( another thing to put on the card one day ) . The Bakery and Patisserie has an amazing display of cakes ,we took home six little delicious cakes for $36 it was worth it each was so delicious , well done chefs!.
For lunch we had the wood fired pizza topped with prosciutto grilled nectarines, rockets and goats cheese and cold Mango tango . And we picked up few donuts too .
It was a delicious Fridate a lovely day with Mr Ng . Next week will be a different story as the school is coming to an end time to entertain the kids and make some fun summer memories.
