Jet's Birthday and dinner at Jamie's Italian

Jet is my youngest child and his birthday had fallen on first friday of the school holidays we didn't plan for a big party as a lot of families goes on holiday during this time. But before the school break he had a little classroom party I made lolly bags and cupcakes and sent it to school .

I set the hall table for a little surprise, I have found the paper plate animal kit from Toy Mania for $1 and then I cut out the letters of his name on different coloured A4 paper and with a sharpie pen I drawed animal skin prints. The orange was with a tiger print, the brown with leopard and the yellow with a giraffe skin pattern . The balloons with animal face is from Kmart for $3 , while animal patterned balloon is from Spotlight. I cut up 2 tones of green paper into leaves and twisted the brown kraft paper to look like vines . I wrapped the presents on brown kraft paper and tied it with jute string.

I filled the jars with jungle treats , Arnotts teddy bear cookies looks like jungle cats and Banana lollies from Aldi is good as it has no artificial coloring and a bargain for 99 cents.

A friend have gifted us a pack of Lindt easter bunnies and chocolate eggs which i added to this table.

I gathered up our plastic jungle animals to decorate the table. What I love about this simple celebrations at home is that I can focus more on the birthday boy .

When we asked Jet what he likes to have for his special dinner he said pasta by Jaime Oliver . Thankfully there's a Jaime's Italian close to us just at Parramatta. It's our first time at Jaime's the restaurants ambience is lovely. For entree we had salt and pepper squid and arancini balls . The portions are really tiny but the delicious .

In our culture long noodles should be eaten on birthdays to promote long life . So we have to have long strands of pasta instead , the prawn linguine was delicious . You can taste thats it's a handmade pasta the sauce is made with fresh tomatoes.

The birthday boy had the hamburger kids meal served very cute on a chopping board with salad in a jar to shake and hedgehog potatoes. The only fault is that ,wish they made their own little burger bun instead of serving half a burger .

The dessert was delicious , we had panna cotta while the birthday boy had icecream the crew has made an effort of making the his dessert a special one . It came out on a wooden plank and a chocolate sauce birthday greeting.

Happy Birthday Jet !
