A Day at Thirroul Beach

As soon as the school holidays have started the kids has been begging to take them to the beach , last summer we have been to Manly and Whale beach however I felt grossed out when I read on a news article that the beaches on the north head are polluted with raw sewer. Im not here to ruin summer, but please be careful where you would take the family it's good to read news and do some researching. So I goggled some beaches down south , Jervis bay area have very good beaches but quite far drive. Then on my search I stumbled upon beaches of the Wollongong district and I picked Thirroul beach.

View of Wollongong coastline

We got up early to avoid the morning rush and drove down south. Thirroul beach is about 1 and a half hours drive away from us we have driven through the country lanes of Campbelltown area to avoid paying tolls . We reached the beach by 8 am the council workers are busy maintaining the childrens playground . A beautiful and safe playspace for kids

theres flying fox, a little bike track , swings, slide and climbing frame. The playground features a soft padded rubber ground

and plenty of benches for adults to sit and watch. Theres also a open field across the playground with shelter and free electric BBQ.

Thirroul Pool is also across the other side of the playground , seawater is pumped into the 2 swimming pools , a lap pool and a toddler pool which is a party covered with sunshade. The swimming pool and toilets are clean and well maintained and the best thing is " its free!".

Thirroul beach is a patrolled beach .

After swimming at the pool and the beach the kids gotr hungry and asked for fish and chips . Thirroul Pavillion serves all day breakfast , juices and shakes and of course fish and chips . Dining on a waterfront view comes with a top price of

$23 for the beer battered fish and chips and Salt and Pepper Squid and $9 for the kids meal.

Thirroul shops are also one black away if you don't like fish and chips , We have seen Thai restaurant , milk bar, Coles and bakery on the way here. We would love to come back to Thirroul beach and we recommend it to families with kids.
