Food Trucks came to the Hill

There's a new kind of revolution happening at the moment it is exciting yet I could imagine it terrifying for the restaurant owners. Growing up in the Philippines, me and my sister would secretly get out of the school gate to buy fried fish balls and green mango on stick, at home we would sneak out in the afternoon to eat BBQ and fried sugar coated bananas on the road side . We love street food ! this is one of the things we are missing so much after moving to Australia however we are thankful that this country has very high standards when it comes to food prep and sanitation.

Food Trucks are the best thing closest to Street Food, as soon as Rooty Hill RSL hanged the posters on the carpark about a " Off The Eaten Truck" festival we have been counting the days. But we thought we will miss out we have spent last night at Westmead Children's Hospital ER , our little Jet has been throwing up the whole afternoon and have passed out . It seems like a gastro bug , but after a few hydralyte ice pops we are sent home at 3 am.

It was quite a hot day and the risk of eating out was high but for the love of food and adventure we would gladly risk it all so off to the food truck festival we go. Kebabs is the unofficial hangover food of Sydney since Doner shop is the only thing open past midnight, we went home at 3 am it's just right to have one . This plate was made by the amazing Syrian Sisters

and it's quite special from the hangover doner . It's got pickles and crumbed feta and a pickled chili peper

Then we had a mixed middle eastern platter , with shish kebab, hummus, flat bread, tabouli and kibbeh ( a delicious football of burghur , onions, spices and a filling of minced beef) and hubby has some sort of obsession with pad thai the un official, must have street food of Thailand. There's over 20 food trucks that showed up but the loudest was the one with the boys with thick beard, it was like a party in their truck so went to check it out.

The Bearded Bakers is cooking this delicious middle eastern dessert it was like soft cheese with rose flavoured syrup . These boys can cook and sing , they asked for your name and rename you anyway. It was crazy fun and the knafeh is one of the best sweet thing on this event for me at least .

For the kids nothing beats ice cream and waffles and Stroopwafel has a very cute truck that sells humongous waffles with caramel and ice cream.

And last the most important dessert discovery of the century the deep fried oreos ! the iconic chocolate sandwich dunk in a pancake batter then deep fried then dusted with icing sugar and served with chocolate sauce.

This is one of the best day ever in history when the food trucks came to the Hill!.
