Butterfly Farm

Butterfly Farm a beautiful place to spend the day with the family located at the banks of the Hawkesbury River. The place offers so much activities , theres go kart racing, water ski , swimming pool , wide open picnic area, playground , a convention centre for hire and we are here for the butterfly exhibit .

Janella have learned from Kindergarten the life cycle of a butterfly and i thought of bringing the kids to this place to see more butterflies. Entomologist Rex Gilroy have turned his collection into a museum back in the 70's , the collection includes over 3000 butterflies, moths, insects , dinosaur eggs and some fossils.

Back in it's early days the park has live butterfly enclosure it was damaged by a great flood when the hawkesbury river burst into it's back and was never rebuilt back. It would have been lovely to walk into a butterfly garden. But thankfully that Mr. Gilroy's collection is still around for us to see .
