Port Macquarie
The journey continues to the far north, we stopped by the Big Oyster for fish and chips lunch, a very nautical themed shop as the shop is on top of the water. The kids had fun looking at the little crabs crawling out of the mud as we walked through the plank into the shop.
Best Western Hotel has a perfect location as it is just across Town Beach , however the hotel is a bit dated and the carpet is really old and In need of a shampoo.
Birthday boy's wish has finally came true, an afternoon in the beach to dig out the sand. We celebrate each birthday but not a yearly big party way. I believe in spending more time with my children to create memories and help them fulfil their little bucket list than slaving in the kitchen for guest .
The following morning we came to visit the Koala Hospital it is a centre for rehabilitation for sick and injured koalas , they also do research about koala diseases. A small donation of $2 per person for entry can change and save an injured koalas life.
Next to the Koala Hospital is the historic Roto House, built by one of Australia's surveyor John Flynn in 1891, The house is a like a lovingly kept time capsule of the Victorian era. It is a very good place for kids to see how house without a wifi looks like ( lol!) . The entry is free.
Both the koala hospital and Roto House have amazing group of people one team is caring for the wildlife and the other preserving heritage. Please come for a visit when you are in Port Macquarie .
