San Francisco

"I'm going home to my city by the Bay , I left my heart in San Francisco High on a hill, it calls to me. To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars. The morning fog may chill the air, I don't care . My love waits there in San Francisco .Above the blue and windy sea . When I come home to you, San Francisco Your golden sun will shine for me"-Tony Bennett

San Francisco is a very dear city to me, this is my Mama Rosie's city and the last city my Lolo Awang lived . My beloved aunt is one the main reason why I love to travel cook and eat, she had taught me some much and brought me to places whenever she had the chance , mostly school holidays.

My emotions are so mixed as we reach this beautiful bay city. I am truly thankful for Facebook that though my aunt is on this side of the world and us down under she was able to see us and the kids through my almost daily post of our everyday life, which some hated some friends i think have turned off and blocked me but i didn't care as what matters is that i brought joy to her on her last days.I brought my kids to the best places in San Francisco i have seen when i visited my aunt back in 2012.

The cable car ride my travel tip start from the beginning Powell street ,if you have kids . I know for those who have been the line is long . But this history lesson parents, let the kids see that despite the world is now " modern" , cable cars are turned in an turn table by hand .

Joe's Crab Shack is my favourite restaurant at Fisherman's wharf , Kids eat free today. The servings are very generous . The chicken tenders and fries is the kids free meal ! It was plenty , you know the round drinks tray from Aussie pub that's the size of their kids meal! The Arctic Bay steampot is the best ,Snow crab, shrimp, a lobster tail and smoked sausage cooked in garlic butter and topped with Old bay seasoning .

And don't forget to take this home! the best San Francisco Souvenir ever .

Pier 39 is like a pirate ship shopping mall , I find joy to hear the sound of cracking timber on my feet and this lazy seals reminds me of myself just love to chill, eat , sleep and swim.

The Candy Baron is a must stop shop, the sweet store is filled with barrels of saltwater taffy , a chewy candy in flavour you could ever think off, search for the bacon maple syrup !

And of course Boudin Bakery the longest serving bakery in San Francisco , they are the maker of edible seafood chowder bowl for most of the restaurant on the bay area.

I love the shopping - bags in San Francisco . I collect paper bags. You might have seen in the movies where the groceries are placed in a brown bag ? This is the place to experience such.

Hopefully one day I can come back and tell you more, San Francisco have taken a chunk of my heart ......
